November 11, 2022 - Mediatek today unveiled the Pentonic 1000 premium TV chip that supports 4K 120Hz HDR display.
The Mediatek Pentonic 1000 supports Dolby Horizon IQ and can even handle multiple Dolby Horizon streams in parallel. In addition, the chip allows the TV to display up to eight video streams simultaneously.
For gaming, the Mediatek Pentonic 1000 supports variable refresh rate inputs up to 4K 144Hz and features an automatic low latency mode (the standard defined by HDMI). In addition, the chip can stream games from the cloud via a built-in low-latency Wi-Fi 6/6E connection.
For video decoding, the Mediatek Pentonic 1000 was the first to support the upcoming H.266 format, or VVC format. The chip also supports current versions of HEVC, VP9, AVS3 and AV1, as well as Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.
In terms of ports, the Mediatek Pentonic 1000 supports HDMI 2.1FRL 48Gbps and up to 4 USB ports.
The first TVS with the Pentonic 1000 are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2023, Mediatek said.
